The LockBit 3 SQL leak, containing the paneldb_dump.zip file, originated from an anonymous attack on LockBit's affiliate admin panel. On May 7, 2025, this panel, accessible via the dark web, was hacked and replaced with a message reading “Don't do crime CRIME IS BAD xoxo from Prague,” suggesting that the attacker is an anonymous actor calling themselves “xoxo from Prague.” The latter appears to be motivated by a desire to oppose malicious ransomware groups. The attacker's precise origin remains unknown, but the message and method suggest an individual hacker or a rival or self-defense group targeting ransomware actors. The SQL leak contains detailed data on LockBit's operations between December 2024 and April 2025, including Bitcoin addresses, negotiation messages, technical configurations, and affiliate lists with plaintext passwords.
In summary, the SQL leak comes from an unidentified intrusion into LockBit's administration panel, attributed to an anonymous actor who identifies themselves with the message “xoxo from Prague,” but without revealing any formal identity other than this pseudonym.
